Dark Frontiers Moon Areas: Can you Adapt to Survive?

The Dark Frontiers Lunar landscape is unforgiving, and each new arrival presents new challenges. Fortunately, a variety of unique habitats can be exploited to thrive.

As we continue our journey into outer space, it’s time to traverse Dark Frontiers’ five moon areas: the moon base, the desiccation zone, reactor zone, and the contact zone.

The final area of the moon will be revealed at a later date.

Luna — Investigating the Artificial Ecosystems Lore

The story goes.

A small research team stumbled into one of the century’s most significant finds: the Lunar Graviton Reactor. Unfortunately, the lead researcher tampered with the reactor — unleashing catastrophic effects on the lunar system.

Several temporary lunar structures collapsed, forcing the planet to adapt swiftly to the new conditions. The effects were long-term, even creating physical changes to the pre-existing biomes.

Structural issues and the need to protect internal technologies made digging efforts to remove large quantities of moon dust on the surface slow and difficult.

Meanwhile, radiation levels in the reactor created a steady stream of energy that started up processes that made the ecosystem unlivable for humans. While many facilities dotted the moon’s surface, four areas remained untouched.

These four areas prevailed over the next decade — deeply buried under thick layers of dust- eventually evolving into complex, self-sustaining ecosystems.

Desiccation Zone (aka. “Lunar dunes”)

Across the sweltering dunes, creatures big and small compete for water and cover while swirling sand stings the eyes, and malfunctioning alien climate machines bake the lunar surface. The magnetic fields emitted by the devices disrupt navigation technology and irresistibly draw in metallic space junk, scarring the landscape with debris and wreckage. Scavengers thrive here, but all must adapt to survive regardless of intelligence.

Here, enemies are few and visible from a distance, thus easier to spot.

Sandstorms occasionally sweep in, offering cover but reducing visibility significantly! Whereas the rocky topography offers practical viewpoints while creating twisting, unnegotiable terrains.

Therefore, careful planning and coordination are necessary because the terrain makes enemies even harder to eliminate.

The vast terrain means particular attention needs to be paid, especially regarding oxygen supply.

Reactor Zone (aka. “The Pole”)

Ice crystals form on jagged crags as motes of evaporating reactor coolant hang in the air. Energy from the generator crackles and the earth itself, and strange bio-mechanical creatures feed on exposed conduits, meaning players can hear an electric hum everywhere. Visitors may marvel at the luminescent flora winding slowly across the frozen biome, but those who stray too close are in for a shock.

Characterizing the region is a reactor that constantly leaks coolant to its surroundings — thus causing the entire area to freeze.

The area earns its name because of its frozen nature and the power created by the reactor, which helps develop a new magnetic pole for the moon.

Monsters here are territorial but otherwise unbothered by characters moving outside their territory.

The closer you move towards the reactor, the more hostile the monsters become as they guard their energy sources.

Contact Zone (aka. “The Jungle”)

Vinelike fungi cling to terrain and technology alike, and their psychotropic spores disrupt sight and senses in a confusing haze. Lonely amidst the sea of green, small outposts are manned by alien remnants driven mad by hallucinations and isolation. While combat patrols scour the area, unknown terrors stalk the undergrowth. Alien technology may be a tempting prize, but explorers must care when navigating the jungle, lest the hunter becomes the hunted.

This area is set in a jungle-like environment evidenced by massive horticultural undergrowth. This space gives off a wild impression of untamed nature and swift danger lurking around every corner.

However, most bases are evacuated, except for a few paranoid troops. Still, players must navigate carefully through these dense areas to avoid encountering combat patrols!

Players also need to be cautious of the troops as they move to the center of the area and try to stay undetected by the main Alien boss.

Moon Base

Characters spend most of their time at this station, a base of operations — where they are safe. This safehouse allows players to restock on ammunition, upgrade their characters, buy items, and sell surplus equipment.

Think And Play Differently

Dark Frontiers requires you to think and play differently. It can be overwhelming at first, but the more you play and explore, the more you appreciate the game’s brilliant design.

Survival here is for the fittest. So grab your gear, eke out an existence, and explore unique surfaces as you traverse into the uncharted.

Finally, even as you play as one of the few remaining survivors in a post-apocalyptic world, allocate some energy and excitement for a thrilling fourth (and final) moon area to be revealed soon.

About Dark Frontiers

“Dark Frontiers” is the newest, gamified space realm governed by a Gamestarter produced DAO. As NFT standards and values are shifting towards promoting use-cases, Dark Frontiers’ goal is to drive mainstream adoption by enhancing the usability of NFTs through staking, item ownership, and the creation of real-world value through in-game items.

Embarking on the gamified metaverse, players will pilot their own spaceship and conquer new planets, defeat oppositions, form guilds and capture new and unique NFTs that can either be built on or sold on the open markets.

The $DARK token in Dark Frontiers will cover an array of opportunities. For players interested in dominating entire sections of a universe, say, by owning a moon, or a planet, they can use this digital plot of land to earn interest on their $DARK. The token will not only be used for staking, but players can also purchase and upgrade their starship Galactica’s using $DARK. After upgrading your ship for universal domination, you are prepared to stand head-to-head with other opponents that are in your way!
